But despite the adversities, abuse, and hardships she endured in her younger years, her vivid worlds are colored with humor and her stories are built on deep emotional connections, resilience, strength, and love.

She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from Concordia University St. Paul, and her Bachelor of Arts in English from Chaminade University of Honolulu. She is currently working towards a certificate in screenwriting, and a certificate in journalism from NYU, as well as a certificate in Editing and Publishing from UCLA Extension.

In addition to these, she is a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, and Fitness Coach through ISSA, a Yoga Alliance e-RYT500 Yoga Teacher, a Reiki Master & Advanced Reiki Master Teacher, an Ayurvedic Nutritionist, and a certified makeup artist and aesthetician. 

The former model/actress‘s works have been published in several literary journals, and she was awarded six top stories and two runner-up awards on Vocal.

Monica writes fiction, poetry, lyrics and melodies, and creative non-fiction. (In no particular order.)

When I chose to name this blog, it wasn’t under any sort of pretentious, “I am THE superwoman” guises, nor was it an “I think I’m better than other moms out there” slap in the face. (To be honest, most of the Moms I know in real life are superwomen.) I decided to use the name Hawaiian Supermom because one: I’m Hawaiian (by ethnicity not just by locale, and yes there is a big difference), and two: like billions of other moms out there, I feel like I can do it all.  I am just another woman who wears many hats and I do the best I can with what I’ve got.

I am a happy wife, a loving mom, a patient daughter, doting sister, kick ass friend, a dedicated writer, and a lover of life. I dance, I yoga, I paddle, I box, I run, I reiki, I meditate, I live, I have fun with my kiddos, act goofy with my hubby, love on my fur-babies, I laugh and I write. A LOT. That’s my style.
