Our future

conversation with my 15 year old kid.

He may look like his dad but he inherited his smart ass from me.

I posted something earlier but decided it was really whiny and irritating so I’m going to try again.

But first, here is some lovely artwork from my kiddos:

birdsFor those who don’t know, I homeschool my younger kids, and while it’s hard and time consuming I am also very thankful that I get to spend all of my time with them. We laugh and play every day– how lucky am I? I’ve been having a hard time trying to find “me” time, which is kind of what I wrote earlier, but with more ‘waah waah me me me’ stuff that no one wants to read. So yeah. I deleted it.

I guess what I was trying to say is that I need more time and the only solution I have is just to keep trying different schedules out until I can find one that will help me with my career as a writer. Until then, I’ll be nurturing my little ones and their talents:

Good morning

So last night my 6-year-old asked me to borrow my phone so she could look up exactly which littlest pet shop toys she wanted for Christmas.

Yes for Christmas.

I told her that when she was done with all her hard work, she could put her list on my writing desk.

I woke up this morning to find this:

Made my day– and my day just started!

My farmer

I Caught my 7-year-old daughter outside singing while she watered her plants a few seconds ago.

“Oh, I love your music my dahling,” I say using my best I-don’t-know-how-to-describe-it accent. “It’s vurry bee-you-tiful.”

“Uh huh,” she answers in between the lines of her made up song. “Living things love it when you sing. It makes them happy.”

It made my heart feel ‘totally blissed out’ (as my 15-year-old son would put it) when she said that because I love the way she thinks.

Now if we could all just sing…

Hey Papi’s, Happy Father’s Day!

You know who you are. You help to feed them, you help to clothe them, you help keep a roof over their heads, you scold them, you guide them, you teach them, you play with them, you’re there for them. Happy Dad’s day to all of you baby daddy’s out there! And to you single mom’s, *woot-woot* for you! You deserve this extra day to celebrate your awesome self!
