M’okay

I know I haven’t checked in since the hurricane; nothing happened to me and my family, we’re fine. We didn’t get a lick of wind here in Kona, not one drop of rain until a few days later; it was all calm and peaceful since then. I just haven’t had time to write because I…

I know I haven’t checked in since the hurricane; nothing happened to me and my family, we’re fine. We didn’t get a lick of wind here in Kona, not one drop of rain until a few days later; it was all calm and peaceful since then.

I just haven’t had time to write because I started homeschooling the kids again.

The last time I logged in, I wrote about Namakaokaha’i, Tutu Pele’s sister and enemy whose face was seen in a screen capture that someone took and posted on facebook.

Sorry, don't know who to credit for this photo-- took it off of Hawaiian 105 KINE's website. If it's yours and you want to claim it and put your name on it, please do!

Apparently, Pele and Poliahu (the two Goddesses of the mountains, Pele of Mauna Loa and Poliahu of Mauna Kea) did this:

Pretty cool, huh?

Before I get talked to by anyone for bringing up old Hawaiian Gods, yes, I am Christian but I am also Native Hawaiian. I don’t pray to the old Gods but I am culturally connected and bound to them because they are a part of me and a part of my history. I am also a storyteller and you gotta admit, these pictures and videos I’ve posted on this storm are epic. The story tells itself, really.

Anyway, Hurricane Iselle still landed and when it hit the South and East ends of the island, she did a lot of damage.

It could’ve been a LOT worse, but some of the people down there still have no water, electric, food, and the roads are still closed.

People are out of their goods by now, and are asking for help. Not sure what the State is doing for them at this point, but I do know that a lot of people here are helping by donating their own supplies to the people there.

If you want to help, Aloha United Way is accepting donations that will go immediately to water, ice, food, tarps, etc. so that the people down there who are in need of food, drinks and warmth can continue to be well. Click the button below (please with a really big smiley face) or just go here:
